Captain KUMA
Captain Kuma is a space-traveller bear in a NASA-inspired suit — a 2D Unity platformer built to master sprite sheets, pixel art and children-first design.
Overview
Captain Kuma is an independent level-design project — a 2D platformer developed in Unity to understand 2D mechanics and sprite-sheet utilisation, built around the character concept of a space-traveller bear.
Sprite sheet
- Kuma bear with space suit
- Kuma changing dress

Current build
The current gameplay doesn’t include active interactions — it was strictly to understand the design and execution of sprites in Unity. The player can use basic arrow-key movement to walk around and explore.
Context
Built in Spring 2026 as part of a collaborative study in children’s games with a few teammates — exploring mechanics, colour, language and character design against PEGI 3 standards, and folding those learnings into a 2D platformer.
